A merry little christmas

#4 in this series

Mysiga sort of romcom i bokformat. Adore! 😊

Sommar-läsning

.... böcker ni säkerligen känner igen, har plöjt redan. ❤

Handling:
From the author of the New York Times bestseller Eleanor & Park.

A coming-of-age tale of fan fiction, family and first love.

Cath is a Simon Snow fan.

Okay, the whole world is a Simon Snow fan...

But for Cath, being a fan is her life—and she’s really good at it. She and her twin sister, Wren, ensconced themselves in the Simon Snow series when they were just kids; it’s what got them through their mother leaving.

Reading. Rereading. Hanging out in Simon Snow forums, writing Simon Snow fan fiction, dressing up like the characters for every movie premiere.

Cath’s sister has mostly grown away from fandom, but Cath can’t let go. She doesn’t want to.

Now that they’re going to college, Wren has told Cath she doesn’t want to be roommates. Cath is on her own, completely outside of her comfort zone. She’s got a surly roommate with a charming, always-around boyfriend, a fiction-writing professor who thinks fan fiction is the end of the civilized world, a handsome classmate who only wants to talk about words... And she can’t stop worrying about her dad, who’s loving and fragile and has never really been alone.

For Cath, the question is: Can she do this?

Can she make it without Wren holding her hand? Is she ready to start living her own life? Writing her own stories?

And does she even want to move on if it means leaving Simon Snow behind?

Handling:
Winning what you want may cost you everything you love...

As a general’s daughter in a vast empire that revels in war and enslaves those it conquers, seventeen-year-old Kestrel has two choices: she can join the military or get married. But Kestrel has other intentions.

One day, she is startled to find a kindred spirit in a young slave up for auction. Arin’s eyes seem to defy everything and everyone. Following her instinct, Kestrel buys him—with unexpected consequences. It’s not long before she has to hide her growing love for Arin.

But he, too, has a secret, and Kestrel quickly learns that the price she paid for a fellow human is much higher than she ever could have imagined.

Set in a richly imagined new world, The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski is a story of deadly games where everything is at stake, and the gamble is whether you will keep your head or lose your heart.

I heart Paris #3

Tycker verkligen om den här bokserien. Den är mysig, lugnande, lättlyssnad, söt... :)

The Selection blir film!?

 JEPP. Its true.

Men ändå mycket spännande nyheter!! :)

Bokrecension: The Jewel (The Lone City #1)

Boktitel: The Jewel
Författare: Amy Ewing
Utgivningsår: 2014
Mitt betyg: 6/10

Handling: The Jewel means wealth. The Jewel means beauty. The Jewel means royalty. But for girls like Violet, the Jewel means servitude. Not just any kind of servitude. Violet, born and raised in the Marsh, has been trained as a surrogate for the royalty—because in the Jewel the only thing more important than opulence is offspring.

Purchased at the surrogacy auction by the Duchess of the Lake and greeted with a slap to the face, Violet (now known only as #197) quickly learns of the brutal truths that lie beneath the Jewel’s glittering facade: the cruelty, backstabbing, and hidden violence that have become the royal way of life.

Violet must accept the ugly realities of her existence... and try to stay alive. But then a forbidden romance erupts between Violet and a handsome gentleman hired as a companion to the Duchess’s petulant niece. Though his presence makes life in the Jewel a bit brighter, the consequences of their illicit relationship will cost them both more than they bargained for.

My thoughts: I enjoyed this book. I liked the concept of it, and the carachters, but I didn't really connect to them as much as I would have hoped.
Also, I didn't really get a picture of the world that the book was set in. I would have liked a little bit more of an explanation as to where in the world it was set, and during what time. Obviously, I understood that it was dystopian set on a sort of island. I just would have liked a more specific and detailed explanation for everything, I guess.
As I said, I really enjoyed the premice of this book. It felt, in a way, new and quite interesting with the whole surrogacy and the Auggories. Felt a little bit like a mix between The Selection and The Hunger Games. Of course there weren't any games, or fights to the death, but I kinda got a feel of it anyway.
The romance was nice, and I really liked that Violets musical interest played quite a big part in the story. I also liked that the book was more focused on the female royalty, rather than the male. It felt as if the cruel and vicious women were the ones who had the real power in the book. And I quite liked that.

Recommend it too those who liked the Selection and the Hunger Games, and too those who are interested in books about court politics set in dystopian worlds.

Shadowhunters-TVshow

Handling:
Based on the six best-selling young adult fantasy book series, Shadowhunters follows 18 year old Clary Fray, who finds out on her birthday that she is not who she thinks she is, but rather comes from a long line of Shadowhunters — human-angel hybrids who hunt down demons. When her mother Jocelyn is kidnapped, Clary is thrown into the world of demon hunting with mysterious Shadowhunter Jace and her best friend, Simon. Now living among faeries, warlocks, vampires and werewolves, Clary begins a journey of self-discovery as she learns more about her past and what her future may hold.

"Shadowhunters is a big, epic saga that will resonate with viewers who come to ABC Family for the Harry Potter, Hunger Games and Twilight franchises," ABC Family president Tom Ascheim said. "A New York Times best-seller for 122-consecutive weeks, with over 35 million copies in print worldwide, Shadowhunters is the perfect story to share with our audience."

Exempelvis som i Once Upon A Time.

The School for Good & Evil #1

In the village of Gavaldon, Agatha and Sophie have grown up as best friends, albeit for different reasons. The awkward and morbid Agatha puts up with the attentions of the beautiful but vain and superficial Sophie, who hopes that it will raise her chances to get selected to attend the School for Good, one of two legendary academies that prepare children to become fairy tale characters, the other being the School for Evil. Though it is shown that eventually, they considered each other as their dearest friend indeed. Every four years, two children are taken from the village to be enrolled in either school, despite the parents' best attempts to prevent it from happening. No children have ever returned, but will occasionally show up in storybooks that mysteriously appear each year.
